Wi-Fi Comes with a New Twist

The famous UMA and femtocell vendor Kineto Wireless has developed a Smart Wi-Fi Offload platform. This can turn existing Wi-Fi access points into seamless extensions of a mobile operator network which can enable smart phone users to receive all mobile services over Wi-Fi.

This includes voice, SMS, data, IMS and web-based services.
Your very own Wi-Fi has been heavily publicized and heavily used by AT&T Mobility which is a way to offload mobile data network traffic to improve network blockages. Sometimes operators do face a situation where mobile data traffic outstrips the revenue.

Kineto also quoted that there are also some effects which are associated with allowing subscribers with Wi-Fi smart phones to move onto Internet-based Wi-Fi networks. All those web services like Skype can be used, bypassing an operator's own revenue-generating services. You will find that in addition smart phones using cellular and Wi-Fi radios simultaneously face significant battery drain, which is a discouraged for using Wi-Fi.

All new Kineto's Wi-Fi Offload platform is designed to deliver all mobile services via Wi-Fi rather than the macro network. By this the cellular radio can be turned off whenever a smart phone is connected to Wi-Fi and smart phones which remains on the macro network.
