Detect An Email Worm

Have you ever heard of Email worm? Well an Email worm is a malicious Internet-borne program that uses your Email account and address book to copy itself and spread to other account holders. If you want to fight with these Email worms, the best way is to detect and prevent them.

Always be aware of suspicious attachments. All kinds of Email worms come in the form of attachments to an Email and then burrow into your address book once you open or download the file. These worms always send themselves to contacts from the victim's address book, so it is possible that you will get these worms from someone you know.
Always remember that if you are not expecting a file attachment from a contact, ask the sender that whether he has sent you that file attachment.

When your sender does not know about the attachment then you can be certain that you have detected an Email worm. Always try to look for strange or misspelled file extensions. Some times worm creators uses some technical-looking file names such as "Win32.Nyxem.exe" to confuse the users.

Try to run your anti-virus or anti-malware. It should be up to date and reliable so that it can detect an Email worm. Always remember to keep your software updated with new downloads so that the program can detect new viruses and worms. Therefore with these tips you can definitely protect your computer from those malicious Email worms.
