1. Monitor friends – Always try to make sure that your child genuinely knows all of their online friends to prevent strangers or people that they do not know that well from accessing their profile.

This will enable you to see how they work and the sort of things kids use them for and also you will be able to see who they are friends with, what photos they are uploading and who is writing what on their profile.

3. Keep the PC public – Always remember that you should allow your child to use the Internet in the presence of someone else. As a part of your Parental Control, make sure that the family computer is used in a public place such as the living room, where people can see the screen.

Get Rid Of Your FarmVille Addiction

From now when ever you log into your Facebook account on Internet for buying more FarmVille virtual currency, just think twice. As from now your Facebook game can cost you to loose your job. As recently a politician in Bulgaria was removed from a city council committee because of sinking excessive amounts of time into FarmVille on Internet during his meetings.

Dimitar Kerin, the councilman who was removed, defended himself from the game play by pointing to the fact that his colleagues were also playing, so much so that they had reached a higher level than him on Internet. Though this particular argument did not hold weight with the majority of the counsel though, as Kerin was narrowly voted out by a margin of 20-19.

The councilman was repeatedly warned about his behavior several times before his ouster for playing on Internet. Though this may be the first FarmVille firing but it points to the broader trend of social media misdeeds on Internet which can lead to problems at work.

Only last year it was reported that that about 8 percent of companies had dismissed employees as a result of their actions on social media sites on Internet.

Wi-Fi on Cruisers: a Never Ending Romance

What would happen if Harry Belafonte could talk to the little girl of Kingston Town from thousands of miles away of the shore? Romantics would miss the feel of the maestro, but it’s sure that the communication gap between the two would be bridged anyway. Such has been made possible for the passengers of all the major cruise lines as offshore folks are getting connected to their near and dear ones via Wi-Fi, the communication lingo of the next generation.

Today’s cruisers are offering the consumers an ecstatic Wi-Fi experience as all of them are mobile hotspots amidst the vastness of the seas and oceans. Ranging from Wi-Fi hotspots to cabin data ports, the wireless communication is all in. A reputed cruise company reported that 65 percent of their esteemed voyagers use onboard broadband. The same company showed a statistics that 50 percent of the onboard passengers use cell phones to throw a kiss to the dears of them who are on land.

Mobile cafes that are equipped with Wi-Fi technology are a common element now on new age cruisers. But most surprisingly, small ships and boats are also providing wireless internet to welcome the guests. It seems that the deep blue sea is responding to the Wi-Fi, the trend of tomorrow.

But one thing has to be kept in mind that the Wi-Fi usage on these royal and deluxe cruisers is not that cheap anyway as it is on the land. Calling from a Wi-Fi enabled phone may cost $9.99 for the user. International roaming and other taxes are added with this price and the bill will be availed once they land. But forget about the price, it’s Wi-Fi splashing around. It’s not time to sing…”I had to leave a lil’ gal in Kingston Town…” It’s time to ring her back.

It also announced that the two bodies will collaborate on wireless home area networks (HANs) for smart grid applications. It will initially focus on ZigBee Smart Energy 2.0 which is an energy management protocol based on the existing Smart Energy Profile. Its original profile ran on ZigBee itself, in release 2.0 there are profiles for other physical layers, notably the HomePlug Alliance powerline specifications and now with Wi-Fi.

ZigBee Alliance quoted that by combining the two standards will offer "greater choice and versatility in energy management solutions" for utilities, suppliers and consumers. The real motive may be to neutralize a possible contender for the smart grid crown and one that is increasingly finding its way into electrical home products from TVs to fridges.

Wi-Fi is still the dominant wireless technology among vendors. This all new initiative will fully integrate the two in products such as meters, thermostats and appliances, as well as entertainment devices, PCs and cars.
