Switch Off Your Wi-Fi To Prevent Laptop Theft



The popular data security specialist called Credant Technologies has warned all laptop users to turn off their Wi-Fi signals before storing their laptops in the boot of their car, office cupboard or desk drawer.

This Wi-Fi theft was elevated more and more by widespread availability of low-cost Wi-Fi detector and quite sophisticated directional detectors. All these are used by thieves to detect the presence of an out of sight laptop.
Report says that a large number of laptops are being stolen by using Wi-Fi detection techniques for later criminal use.

Credant’s officials also quoted that the real focus of identity thieves is the company laptops as they contain valuable company data that can potentially be sold at high price. This has proved itself a big business now.

By switching off your Wi-Fi when you do not need it and also by encrypting your data on a notebook can help you to save your laptop from those hungry eyes who are longing to put there hands on it. Always remember though Wi-Fi is a technological bonus, you need to know how to use it wisely when you need it.
