Now Get Bike Routes In Google Online Maps

You often wonder why there isn’t a way to find safe bike routes on Internet.

Well now there is a good news as Google will now add biking directions to its Google Maps on Internet.A company in California called Mountain View introduced biking directions alongside existing mapping features for drivers, pedestrians and people who use public transit.

As drivers search for the quickest car routes to their destinations, in the same way bikers now can find cycling directions that are relatively speedy and aim to be safer and less challenging for riders.

Google said that it developed an algorithm to help its computers draw bike-appropriate routes between two locations. In this course, computers select paths along existing bike trails, streets with bike lanes, streets with slow speeds and those with light traffic on Internet. Here you will also find biking directions that will help you to avoid steep hills and busy intersections.

These biking directions on Internet can help you to find a convenient and efficient route that makes use of dedicated bike trails or lanes and avoids hills whenever possible. These directions in Google Maps will also tell riders how long it might take them to make a trip.

Google also quoted on Internet that it has added data about bike lanes for 150 U.S. cities. Google also with the help of an advocacy group called the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy filled up its maps with 12,000 miles of bike trails, which are both rural and urban.

Google even added a layer to Google Maps that will let cyclists explore bike trails and bike-friendly streets. You can turn it on by going to Google Maps. Just put your mouse on top of the white box that says "More" and then select the "Bicycling" layer. Therefore, let us hope that this new feature of Google Maps on Internet will be both helpful.
