Stay Protected From F1 Key

Now you can face danger when you use your F1 key. Recently Microsoft is mainly warning Windows XP users to avoid pressing the F1 key while browsing the Internet mainly by using Internet Explorer 6, 7, and Internet Explorer 8. Do you know this step can lead your computer to be infected with malware? Well you have to believe it.

As Microsoft itself has discovered that a vulnerability in the Visual Basic Script [VBScript] can be exploited to allow malicious files into a computer when the F1 key is pressed. This particular issue mainly appears to affect Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003.

The bright side is unless you push the F1 key, your computer is not at risk. Microsoft itself is already aware of the problem and it is currently working on a patch. This patch will either be released on their monthly “Security Update Tuesday” or in an out-of-cycle update. Therefore there is a danger from that F1 key in your keyboard. So it’s better that you say Beware of F1 as it can allow those malicious files into your computer when you press F1.
