Wi-Fi with its variety of Protocols

During the 1990’s, Wi-Fi, officially announced its inception to the planet and established iself as one of the most common wireless technologies of the recent age. This technology is greatly used for connecting machines in a Local Area Network. So, the wireless version of Ethernet is Wi-Fi.

Technically a Wi-Fi is termed as the 802.11 protocol and over time this wireless network has successfully got improved in giving rise to the various contrast of the protocol. Such variations are:

802.11a
At a speed of 54 Mbps the Wi-Fi 802.11a functions. For the Internet Protocol technology this version is considered as one of the preferred wireless protocol of LAN.

A 802.11 a does not offer its full advantage when you are working at a distance that is beyond 100 feet. It will put up a message that states ‘you are out of the network’.

802.11b

The 802.11b version works at a speed of 11 Mbps. But it maintains a transmission distance of 300 feet. This Wi-Fi version is utilized in the small campus environments and public hotspots.

802.11g

The 802.11g is a relatively new version. This version of Wi-Fi offers a much higher speed and is considered as a better replacement for 802.11b. This Wireless Fidelity connection offers a speed of 54 Mbps.

Engaging an Internet Telephony will be possible through a Wi-Fi 802.11 network. Using such networks you can ably connect with your laptop. You can even exercise your microphones and headphones or even the other exceptional phones that are provided by a VoIP service provider.

Let’s hope that all the mentioned protocols suits your daily purpose.
